I’ve been thinking a lot about how modern algorithms affect a person’s success. Particularly in the wake of YouTube’s demonetization wave where progressive activists like Seth Andrews gets demonetized for just about everything since his secular humanist conversations are seen as threatening to Christians, but something banal like grumpy kitty makes bank.
And then here’s something else I noticed. Here are the autocomplete suggestions for two progressive YouTube hosts. Their content is rather similar, but one is male and the other is female.
I suspect those are the most common searches for those names. And yet it makes me wonder how such suggestions will affect the jobs of people, but in making money or looking for work. We have no control what people are searching for us as Rick Santorum found out but yet these searches can have real effects on peoples’ lives.
